Text Features

Plates

• Turn to page 5 in the text. Find the word plates.

• The crust is broken into huge pieces called plates.

Faults

• Turn to page 6. Find the word faults.

• The crust has many cracks in it. The cracks, or breaks, are called faults.

Magma

• Turn to page 14. Find the word magma.

• Ash, solid rock, and magma, or liquid rock, erupt through the cone.

Ring of Fire

• Go to page 14. Find the words Ring of Fire.
