- 2. Introduction/Background information
Potatoes are a major food source for the Chinese people
- 3. Why do catalase relate to our lab?
Potatoes contain catalase which can be used as catalysts to speed
up the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide.
- 4. Our Lab
Aim
Research Question
- 5. Controlled Variables
15mL of hydrogen peroxide.
Type of hydrogen peroxide (10%).
Exactly 3.00 0.01 grams of each type of potato
Temperature of hydrogen peroxide
Same equipment will be used
- 6. General Description of Experiment
- 7. Example of Data Collection
- 8.
- 9. Analysis
- 10. Analysis
When a potato has more catalase, it means that it produced the
catalase in order to decompose hydrogen peroxide, thus the more
catalase a potato has, the more hydrogen peroxide it has in the
body.
- 11. Analysis
More hydrogen peroxide means more metabolic reactions, and more
catalase would mean greater cellular activity
- 12. Conclusion
Different types of potatoes have different amounts of cellular
activity and metabolic rates
- 13. Weaknesses and Improvements
Potato Size
Perhaps compare with other types of food
