A: My parents’ marriage is a testament to perseverance, compromise, understanding and love.

Q: What’s one thing you learned from your parents growing up that you still do today?

A: When I was a kid, my parents worked extremely hard. My dad was an engi-neer, my mom was a psy-chiatric nurse. Even then, I was keenly aware of their work ethic. They never com-plained, and had a sort of Zen-like stoicism about them. They both grew up during the Great Depression, and I believe that it made them strong, pragmatic, and infused them with great character.

Q: So tell me, what are you currently working on and what’s coming up next for you?

A: I just finished a movie called “Great Hope Springs” with Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones. Next up

is a comedy with Jim Carrey called “Burt Wonderstone.”

Q: Looking back at your-self when you were first start-ing out, did you think you would get this far?

A: I always thought that if I could just make a liv-ing as an actor, I would be happy. Everything that has happened beyond that seems almost dream-like. I am intensely appreciative, and incredibly lucky.

Q: Who has been your favorite character to play on screen so far and why?

A: I enjoyed playing the character (Frank Ginsberg) in “Little Miss Sunshine.” He was a suicidal Proust scholar. It was a bit of a departure for me!

Q: What’s one fun fact your fans don’t know about you that can share?

A: My dad and I were Revolutionary War re-enac-tors in Massachusetts, and my mom knits handmade quilts for a general store that my wife and I own.

The family group sheet or family group record

This is the form that allows you to enter all the individuals connected to a particular family. At the top, there is space for the names and vital information on the husband (or father) and wife

(or mother). Included in this area is

space for the names of the parents of husband (father) and wife (mother). Below, there is space for the names of all the children born to the union of the two people named at the top, their birth and death information, and the name or names of their spouses. Should either of the two individuals named on the top have been married another time, then that data would appear on a separate family group sheet.

The proper procedure is to complete a family group sheet for every couple you discover in your research, and place an asterisk (*) near the name of

the child in that family from whom you descend. On the back of the sheet, you can enter a citation for any source material you used and/or record any anecdotal informa-tion you may have discovered in your research.

A research logIt is here that you record

the sources you have con-sulted and the informa-tion you were seeking. It is wise to keep a log for each person you are research-ing — one that notes what you were looking for, where you looked and what you found. While it might seem overwhelming at first, it soon becomes second nature.

These forms are available in most libraries, local genea-logical societies, family history centers, online at a variety of sites, or from a genealogy specialty company. Once you have these tools, find a good No. 2 pencil, sit down someplace quiet and comfort-able and begin writing all of the information you have gathered.

Dean said. “In fact, only about 10 percent of the members actually have horses.”

Dulgar said he is hugely impressed with Villagers’ strong desire to learn about all sorts of things.

“What The Villages has been able to do is transition

somebody from active work into active retirement,” Dulgar said. “They keep their brain active and their bodies active. That’s what’s so beautiful about The Villages.”
