GRANULARITY OF CONTROL IS

ONEDRIVE'S KEY FEATURE• If you log into "Windows 10" with a

Microsoft account and you get the

bundled OneDrive app working, then

you have superior control over how

each file or folder that you store on

"OneDrive" behaves:

Online only, download when needed,

synchronized between the server farm

and your computer's hard drive, etc.

OneDrive (continued)• Collaboration with File

Versioning

"OneDrive" lets you share files with

others. You can give them the

ability to edit the files using "Office

Online". If you do so, "OneDrive"

will keep versions of the files that

others edit so that you can see

what changes that they have made

to a file.

OneDrive (continued)• Microsoft's instructions for setting

up "OneDrive" in Windows 10, 8.1,

and 7:

44

OneDrive (continued)• Key feature of "OneDrive":

Keeps "Special Folders" all the

same as long as you log into a

"Windows.." computer that has the

bundled "OneDrive" app installed

and activated, a "macOS" computer

that has the "OneDrive" app

installed, or a cell phone that has

the "OneDrive" app installed in it.

45

PROBLEMS WITH "ONEDRIVE"

• When you are using the "OneDrive"

app or a Web browser to upload

files and/or folders up to the

"OneDrive" server farm, it refuses

to let you upload some files and

folders and the error messages do

not make sense:

51

52

PROBLEMS WITH "ONEDRIVE"

(continued)• The bundled "OneDrive" app in

"Windows 10.." only works when you

log into "Windows 10.." with a

"Microsoft Account". If you log into

"Windows 10.." with a "local account"

and you then use a "Microsoft

Account" to get into the "OneDrive"

app, your attempts to upload data files

with either the "OneDrive" app or the

"OneDrive" folder will fail.

53

PROBLEMS WITH "ONEDRIVE"

(continued)• If you log into the OneDrive app from a

computer and you use "File Explorer"

upload data files by dragging from a

local hard drive to the "OneDrive" folder,

your data files will never arrive up at the

server farms of the OneDrive cloud

storage service. Afterwards, when you

use a Web browser to go to your

OneDrive.com account, you will

discover that your data files never made

it there!
