New River Areas of Interest High Tide at 12:34pm(2.3ft) and Low Tide at 7:13pm(0.6ft). High Tide again at 12:56am(2.1ft). Strong eastwest current. Tide is going out during the staging and coming in for the last half of the parade. Strong currents. No room to pass at bends.

Staging STAGING will be monitored by law enforcement vessels – at the END of the meeting you will be “Staged” were you will meet with other participating vessels in your ZONE as well as a representative from law enforcement.
ONCE YOU ARE AT YOUR STAGING LOCATION – stay on the dock until you are notified to enter into the parade.
SPACING will be approximately 50100 yards (150300 ft) between parade participants ORr safest distance at Captain’s discretion.
SPEED is approximately 4 knots.
Please note – if a police officer needs you to speed up, slow down or remove yourself from the parade – PLEASE do so immediately and contact parade control.

Staging The New River is closed to spectator watercraft at 2:30pm.
The Intracoastal Waterway will start to close between 4:30 – 5:20 pm to all spectator watercraft. All boats are encouraged to dock before 4:00 pm. (docks are available after 12 NOON the day of parade)
There is no train between 5:00pm and 8:30pm. If there is a Train Bridge Closure, about a 15 min duration, everything comes to a stalemate. Hold your position. No Spectator Crafts will be in the New River
Music Volume MUST BE REDUCED while staging and on the docks

Parade Timing 6:30 PM • The Parade Timing • 5:45 pm Coast Guard Helicopter with Santa • 5:50pm NonMotorized Boats head east to the Riverside Hotel • 6:00pm * Grand Marshal Boat leaves RiverHouse Restaurant Dock • Does loop, travels about 2 knots to Riverside Hotel. All boats should
average 3.7 knots in New River. • *If Grand Marshall makes loop. • 6:20pm NonMotorized Boats enter parade, depart from Riverside
Hotel. • 6:29pm Coast Guard , Ft. Lauderdale Marine Patrol, and BSO ready to lead the
parade at Riverside Hotel. • 6:30pm Fireworks Barge leaves dock from Stranahan House and displays
fireworks until 6:34pm.

Parade Timing 6:30 PM • 6:28pm Grand Marshal Boat at 3rd Ave Bridge followed by Zone A. Proceeds
East to meet up with Centennial Boat. (7 min to 3rd Ave from L.O.R., 5 min from 3rd Ave Bridge to US 1 assuming 1.5 to 2 knots – TOW CAPTAIN will adjust timing if needed)
• 6:33pm Centennial Boat leaves 1st dock position from Zone C and enters parade followed by Grand Marshal Boat.
• 6:34pm Centennial Boat at Riverside Hotel and proceeds east. • Zone A enters after Grand Marshal Boat passes. • Zone B enters parade after last boat in Zone A passes. • Zones C , D, E, to follow. • Zone F to meet up with end of Zone E. First Boat in Zone F should enter and
proceed east when first boat in Zone E enters the parade to meet up with the last Boat in Zone E. This distance is approximately 705 feet, 1.7 min at 4 knots.
• Zones G and H to follow. • Santa Boat is the Finale Boat • USCG Hudson meet with Fort Lauderdale Marine, BSO and Coast Guard

Parade Rules and Procedures • Spacing is 150 feet.......50 yards........or safest distance at Captain’s
discretion.
• Speed is 4 knots, 3.7 knots in New River. Fort Lauderdale Marine Patrol, United States Coast Guard and BSO will jointly pace this parade with the Coast Guard Cutter to LAKE SANTA BARBARA visual for the END of the parade route
• Parade is in a straight line format. Do not meander or swerve to get closer to TV or a party on the shoreline. Do not slow or stop for TV !
• NonMotorized vessels Once in the parade, move to the side to allow motorized vessels to pass if needed.
• Lower your sound through the television area (Riverside Hotel)
• Emergency Procedures Disabled Vessels, etc
• Enforcement Action Boats too Slow, etc.

Parade participants must MONITOR the following: VHF Channel 68 (Parade Control)
– THIS INCLUDES EMERGENCIES AS WELL.
YOUR CELL PHONE. You must be able to HEAR the RADIO and YOUR PHONE if Parade Control tries to call you…
so lower your MUSIC during STAGING.

Securing Parade Route Control Boats the “eyes and spectator craft fence of the parade”
Control boats are located where spectators will be viewing the
parade
• They will be identified by their amber strobe light, Control Boat Banners and sign displayed with alpha letters from A to ZZ
• They are the eyes for the parade and report to parade control

staged in Lake Santa Barbara as a visual guide that you have reached the END OF THE PARADE AND A BUOY WILL BE THE MARKER.
(Boater – if you are traveling north to your home dock – please make sure you note that on your application and INFORM the boats before and after you at the Captain’s Meeting!)

required to WAIT until the END of the PARADE

Decorations SANTA:
Any vessel with a Live Santa Claus OR an IMAGE that is CLOSE to looking like a LIVE SANTA will not be allowed to participate in the parade. THERE IS ONLY ONE SANTA and he is on boat #100! PLEASE – no Santa Hats on any of your guests with white beards!

Each Zone has a leader, a law enforcement officer. At the end of captains meeting, each captain will meet with their zone and zone leader. Learn who your captains are in front and behind you.
Get to know the type of vessel and decorations of the boats around you.
• Exchanging cell phone numbers is always encouraged.
