Capacitive Multi-Touch Display 7” and 10”, Overview and Setup
5.1. Choose the Display
Choose either the
Capacitive Multi-Touch Display 10”
or
Capacitive Multi-Touch Display 7”
and connect it to the
Capacitive Multi-Touch Adapter
It is not possible to connect and use a Display 7” and Display 10” at the same time. See [3]
and [5].
5.2. Choose the Carrier Board
Choose one of the following Carrier Board:
Iris Carrier Board
Colibri Evaluation Board
Ixora Carrier Board
Apalis Evaluation Board
and connect it to the:
Capacitive Multi-Touch Adapter
See [7],[8],[9] and [10]
5.3. Setup Capacitive Single Touch Drivers
After the wiring is done (see chapter 5.1 and 5.2), choose one of the following Colibri
module and Windows:
Module Win CE5 Win CE6 Win CE 7
Colibri PXA270 ok Ok ok
Colibri PXA300 ok Ok ok
Colibri PXA320 ok Ok ok
Colibri T20 ok Ok ok
Contrary to the Multi-Touch Solution, the whole setup for a Single Touch Driver [1] is made
in one package. For this reason every combination of display, carrier board and module has
its own prepared package:
‘Display 7", Iris Carrier Board, Colibri PXA270‘ ‘Display 7", Iris Carrier Board, Colibri PXA300‘ ‘Display 7", Iris Carrier Board, Colibri PXA320‘ ‘Display 7", Iris Carrier Board, Colibri T20‘ ‘Display 10", Iris Carrier Board, Colibri PXA270‘ ‘Display 10", Iris Carrier Board, Colibri PXA300‘

All these packages can be found and downloaded at
http://developer.toradex.com/product-selector/capacitive-multi-touch-display
(see “Single Touch Drivers”)
For a detailed description about to install a Singel Touch Driver, see [14].
5.4. Setup the Capacitive Multi-Touch Solution
After the wiring is done (see chapter 5.1 and 5.2), choose one of the following Colibri
module and Windows:
Module Win CE5 Win CE6 Win CE 7
Colibri T20 --- --- ok
Colibri T30 --- --- ok
Colibri Apalis T30 --- --- ok
Again, contrary to the Single Touch Driver, the setup for the Multi-Touch Solution [2] is
made using different package for the display, the carrier board and the package for the
Unified Multi-Touch Driver.
5.4.1 Install the Unified Multi-Touch Driver
The Unified Multi-Touch Driver is not dependent on the used module, carrier boards, and
windows version and hence, must be installed once using the prepared packages.
This packages can be found and downloaded at
http://developer.toradex.com/product-selector/capacitive-multi-touch-display
(see “Unified Multi-Touch Driver”)
For a detailed description on how to install the Unified Multi-Touch Driver see [15].

5.4.2 Setup the Display
The setup of the Display is independent of the used module and Windows version (see table
in chapter 5.4). The setup depends on the used display and orientation.
The two displays with two orientations are supported with the following packages:
‘Display 7”, T20, T30, 0’ ‘Display 7”, T20, T30, 180’ ‘Display 10”, T20, T30, 0’ ‘Display 10”, T20, T30, 180’
All these packages can be found and downloaded at
http://developer.toradex.com/product-selector/capacitive-multi-touch-display
(see “Display Setting”)
A detailed description about wiring, and setting up a display can be found at [3], and [5].
5.4.3 Installing the Multi-Touch Hardware Adaption Fusion
Each Toradex Carrier Board comes with a prepared package:
‘Iris Carrier Board ‘ ’Colibri Evaluation Board’ ‘Ixora Carrier Board ‘ ’Apalis Evaluation Board’
All these packages can be found and downloaded at
http://developer.toradex.com/product-selector/capacitive-multi-touch-display
(see “Carrier Boards”)
A detailed description about wiring and setting up a Carrier Board can be found at [7], [8],
[9], and [10].

6. Bringing up the Touch Panel
After the Hardware connection is setup (see chapter 5.1 and 5.2), the following steps and
tools help to bring up the device:
Install the Display settings and restart the module. The Display should show the
Windows desktop without any border, flicker etc. More details are described in [3]
and [5].
Control the wiring of the Reset and Interrupt lines.
o With the help of the GPIO Config Tool, the chosen SODIMM or MXM3 pin for
the Interrupt can be monitored and the Reset pin can be set to high and low.
(see http://developer.toradex.com/knowledge-base/gpioconfig) .
Control the wiring of the I2C Bus (SDA, SCL signals).
o Run the tool to scan the I2C addresses (I2cAdrScan.exe) which is part of the
packages for the Carrier Boards.
The tool shows the I2C addresses of all devices on the I2C bus. One of these
addresses should be the address of the touch controller.
(Please note that the shown addresses are the addresses of the devices on the
I2C bus and not the address set in the registry.)
o Please check that the Reset pin is low so that the touch controller of the
Display can run.
Install the Unified Multi-Touch Driver and control, if the driver is loaded at startup of
the module. More details are described in [15].
Install the Hardware Adaption Fusion application and control, if the program is
loaded at startup of the module. More details are described in [16].
Check if the touch panel is working.
