Minimum Entry requirements for CIT:For most Level 7 courses is Leaving certificate grade D3 at Ordinary or Higher Level in 5 subjects including Maths or English and Irish

A Pass In Foundation Level Maths does not meet minimum requirementsHowever a grade B2 or higher is recognised as a subject for entry to Art, Music and Childcare.

Now students do not need a third European language for any of the Science, Engineering or Food science Programmes but do for all other courses.Minimum requirements for individual courses can be found in college prospectuses, on qualifax website and by googling “bgscareers minimum requirements”

Place Allocation

• Students will always be offered their first preference where they meet the points cut off and minimum requirements

• 2 Different lists- 2 Different offers 1 Course to acceptSame procedure

• Regardless of whether or not they accept a course in round 1, they will still be offered a higher preference course in subsequent rounds if they become entitled one.

Applicant’s Responsibility

• Research thoroughly all the courses which they are applying for

• Become familiar with all aspects of the application system used (CAO) for these courses, i.e., procedures, dates, fees, rules, etc.
