Our teacher: Greg Moffitt
Greg Moffitt worked as a tiler for seven years before starting his own tiling business. Then, to broaden his construction industry skills, he went back to TAFE to study building and carpentry.
As a building and carpentry student, Greg won a State Medal and an Australian Institute of Building Award. With such a broad range of skills and knowledge, it seemed natural for Greg to join the TAFE teaching ranks. And for eight years he’s “loved it”.
“I love teaching,” says Greg. “It’s satisfying passing on the skills that I have acquired over the years to people coming though, and helping them to build their own careers. It’s exciting.”
Greg still works on tiling and construction projects regularly so that he doesn’t lose touch with industry developments.
“You need to stay up to date, and to use tools and new tools and to cut tiles in different ways. Otherwise, you can’t show others how to do it properly.”
