Being a “Tuned-In” Supervisor

• What does “Tuned-In” mean?• How do we become “Tuned-in”?• The Five Key Areas– Work Life– Life in General– Off-Duty Activities– Education– Social Life

Our Approach

Our Approach must be centered around a framework founded on our core values, “The Little Brown Book”, trust, respect, courage, and most importantly, Airmen Empowerment.

The “Why?” Generation• Most of us grew up

with “Because I told you so!”

• We do what we are told even if we do not fully understand why or its impact on us.

• This generation grew up being told to ask “Why?”

• They must have an understanding of “why” and “how it will impact them”

We need to shift our thinking, our way of interacting so that we can be “tuned-in” to this concept.

We need to get into our books, know our answers.

We need to start asking why.

Leading by Example, Knowing the Answers, and Asking “Why?”.

Do we give them the answers?
