Napapaloob dito ang historical background kung saan ayon sa mga ninuno nagsimulang tawagin ang
munting pook na ito sa kanyang kasalukuyang katawagan, ang pisikal na kaanyuan at ang socio-
economic na katangian nito.
Kung saan sa socio-economic sector ay nalalahad ang demographic characteristics ng
barangay,
Ang pangkalahatang pangkabuhayang aspeto ng barangay, ang sosyal na kagalingan at
kalagayan ng barangay, ang inprastrakturang nailagak at pinakikinabangan ng komunidad at ang
mga personalidad na umukit kung ano na ang barangay sa ngayon.
Layunin ng paglalahad na ito na ipabatid ang tunay na kalagayan ng barangay upang
magsilbi ring batayan sa pagtutulong-tulong ng lahat ng mamamayan ng panibagong pagbalangkas
ng mga gawain, programa at mga proyektong higit na tutugon sa pangangailangan ng kabarangay.
Paabot ng pasasalamat sa Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), sa
Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC) at sa iba pang ahensya ng pamahalaan
upang maisa-kaganapan ito.

TANGGAPAN NG PUNUMBAYAN
MENSAHE
Mahalaga ang kamulatan ng mamamayan sa mga impormasyon ukol sa
bawat barangay ng Atimonan. Ang magbigay ng konkreto at angkop na mga
datos ang layunin ng Socio-Economic Profile ng mga Barangay. Ito rin ang
magsisilbing matibay na batayan upang mabalangkas ng Pamahalaang Bayan
ang mga programang pangkaunlaran na ang mamamayan ang higit na
makikinabang.
Ang ating mamamayan ang salamin ng kaunlaran ng bayan kaya ang
progreso ng apatnapu’t dalawang barangay ay pinapahalagahan ng Lokal na
Pamahalaan ng Atimonan. Ang Socio-economic Profile ang testimonya na patuloy
ang pag-unlad ng ating bayan.

Punumbayan
KATANGIAN AT INTERPRETASYON SA OPISYAL NA LOGO NG BARANGAY
Ang opisyal na sagisag (logo) ay binubuo ng dalawang hugis bilog, isa (1) sa loob at isa
sa labas. Ang espasyo sa gitna ng dalawang (2) hugis bilog ay nakasulat ang mga
sumusunod:
BARANGAY SAPAAN – pangalan ng barangay at nakalagay sa itaas na bahagi
ng hugis bilog.
ATIMONAN, QUEZON – pangalan ng bayan at probinsyang nakakasakop sa
Barangay at nakalagay sa ibabang bahagi ng hugis bilog.
Ang gitnang bahagi ng nasa loob ng bilog ang mga sumasagisag sa
pagkakakilanlan ng barangay ay ang mga sumusunod:
KABUNDUKAN AT KABUKIRAN sumisimbolo sa pangunahing tanawin ng mga
taga-barangay.
ULAP NA PUTI sumisimbolo sa malinis na kapaligiran, katapatan ng mga
namumuno at disiplina ng mamamayan.
NIYOG O PUNO NG BUHAY kapaki-pakinabang, ito ay nag lalarawan a
sumasailalim sa buhay ng mga mamamayan ng barangay.
PALAYAN isa sa mga pangunahing hanapbuhay, simbolo ng pagiging matiyaga,
masinop at mapagpahalagang mga magsasaka sa kabuhayan.
LANGIT NA BUGHAW sumisimbolo ng katiwasayan at mapayapang
pamumuhay ng mga mamamayan ng barangay.
Ang pagkilala ay ibinibigay sa mga nag-ambag para sa pagsasa-ayos ng opisyal
na sagisag (logo) ng barangay at ito ay ang mga sumusunod:
KGG. ANTONIO E. LAVILLA – Dating Punong Barangay; na nagpatupad ng
pagkakaroon ng opisyal na sagisag ang barangay.
G. ANGELO M. VILLARAMA – Dating Kalihim ng Barangay; sa pagdesinyo at
pagguhit ng sagisag.
KGG.FELIZA V. GENEBLAZO – Kasalukuyang kagawwad ng barangay; sa
pagbibigay ng kahulugan ng sagisag.
VISION
Isang pamayanan na itinalaga ang sariling kagalingan at
kabutihan ng isang pagiging tunay na Pilipino, makatao at
maka- Diyos, may pananaw sa pagpapaunlad at sapat na
kasanayan upang makamit ang isang pangkaraniwang
pangangailangan ng kabarangayan at maibahagi ang
pambansang adhikain sa pangunguna ng mga epektibong
lider.
MISSION
Maglaan ng karampatang halaga para sa mga proyektong
dapat isakatuparan para sa kalinisan at kalusagan at
kaayusan at kapayapaan at modernong pamamaraan ng
pamumuhay. Pasiglahin ang ugnayan sa pagitan ng
Sangguniang Barangay at Non-Governmental Organizations
(NGO’s) at iba pang Government Organization upang maging
kaakibat sa pagpapatupad ng mga itinalagang gawaing
pambarangay.
1. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
KASAYSAYAN NG BARANGAY SAPAAN
Sa pinakamataas na bundok ng nayong ito na ngayo’y tinatawag na Kinakatihan na nasa
pagitan ng Lisong at Pinili ay may magkasintahan na kapwa doon naninirahan. Sang-ayon sa alamat
ang dalawa na kapwa tapat na nagmamahal sa isa’t isa ay may napiling pook para pagtayuan ng
kanilang magiging tahanan sa oras na sila’y makasal at ito ay ang pinakamataas na lugar ng bundok.
Buhat doon ay matatanaw ang kapatagan na siyang dinaraanan ng mga taong nanggagaling sa
kabayanan. Sa nasabing pook ang dalawa’y malimit na mag-ulayaw, pagkat para sa kanila ito ang
pook ng kanilang pag-ibig.
Subalit isang buwan bago sila ikasal ay napagkaisahan ng kanilang mga magulang
na sila’y paghiwalaying pansamantala sa loob ng tatlong lingo upang masubok ang katapatan nila sa
isa’t isa. Ang lalaki’y pansamantalang nanirahan sa kanyang tiyuhin sa kabayanan at ang babae’y
naiwan sa kabundukan. Malungkot ang kanilang paghihiwalay. Hinihiling ng lalaking siya ay laging
hihintayin sa pook ng kanilang pag-ibig upang buhat doon ay makita niya ang kanyang pagdating.
Katulad ng kanyang ipinangako, ang babae’y matatagpuan sa pook ng kanilang
pag-ibig na hinihintay ang pagdating ng kasintahan. Isang araw, bago dumating ang araw ng
pagbisita ng kanyang kasintahan, ay biglang sumalakay ang mga pirating Moro sa kabayanan at
napatay ang kanyang kasintahan. Halos ikabaliw ito ng babae at sa matinding pagdadalamhati siya’y
nagkasakit.
Dumating ang takdang araw ng kanilang kasal, ang babae na noo’y kasalukayang
maysakit ay nakarinig ng tinig na wari’y siya ang tinatawag. Kilalang-kilala niya ang tinig na iyon
kaya’t lingid sa kaalaman ng kanyang mga magulang at kasamahan sa bahay ay nagtungo siya sa
burol. Gayon na lamang ang kanyang katuwaan ng makita niya sa kapatagan ng nayon ang kanyang
minamahal na tila kumakaway sa kanya.
Kasabay ng pagtawag sa kanyang pangalan ay ang pagbagsak ng malakas na ulan.
Gayunman, kahit napakalakas ng ulan ang babae’y nanatiling nakatanaw sa kapatagan. Sapagkat
nakikita niyang kumakaway ang kanyang minamahal. Magdamag ang buhos ng malakas na ulan at
kinabukasan gayon na lamang ang pagkamangha ng mga tao ng makakita sila ng sapa na
nagbubuhat sa kabundukan patungo sa kapatagan ng Nayon. Samantalang natagpuang patay ang
babae sa kanyang kinatatayuan na ang kamay ay waring may nais na abutin sa SAPAAN-AN ng
Bundok.
Kung totoo man o hindi ang alamat na itong nagpasalin-salin sa bibig ng
matatanda at ng kanilang mga anak at mga apo, ang katotohanan at hindi mapapasubalian ay ang
pagkakaroon ng nayong ito ng napakaraming sapa.
Ang kapatagan ng nayong ito ay nasa paanan ng bundok kung saan ang mga ilog,
kasama na ang ilog sa ilalim ng kuweba ng Pinili ay siyang nagsisilbing patubig sa mga palayan ng
mga magsasaka
2. PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
Brgy. Sapaan is one of the inner barangays of Atimonan, located about 3.5-kilometers away from the town’s Poblacion and about 2-kilometers away from Maharlika Highway bounded on the north by Barangay San Isidro, on the south by Barangay San Andres Labak, on the west by Barangay Malinao Ibaba and Tinandog and on the east by Brgy. Inaclagan
It has a total land area of 490.7934 hectares per record of Municipal Assessor’s Office composed of six sitios- Sitio Monte Carlo, Sitio Agrifacion, Sitio Ilayang Pantay I, Sitio Ilayang Pantay II, Sitio Ambulong and Sitio Libho. Topography of the barangay is mostly mountainous. Almost 99% of land is agricultural. Definitive data were specified below:

3. SOCIO-ECONOMIC SECTOR 3.1 DEMOGRAPHY RHU Survey of Population 2014, showed that Brgy.Sapaan had a population of 1491. There are more male than female, with age distribution revealing 71.09% of the total population belong to ages 10-59 years old; 17.57% under 1 year old to 9 years old and 11.33% belonging to 60 years old and above. This shows that Brgy. Sapaan has more working population than dependent population. School going population (pre-school, elementary, secondary and college) is computed at 36% of the total population and the most common religion is Roman Catholic.

3.2. GENERAL ECONOMIC PROFILE
99% or 486.1807 hectares of the barangay is devoted to agriculture. Major crops are
rice and copra. There is no existing irrigation system that contributed to the limited
production of farm products. Some of the populace are leaned to poultry production for
additional source of income.
