SRI Sagening was the king of Klungkung Kingdom, Bali. He had a lot of wives. His

last wife was Ni Luh asek. She was the most !eautiful wife and that made the other

wives were jealous. The" often told !ad things to the king. Sadl", the king was

in#uen$ed and he %nall" asked Ni Luh asek to leave the &ala$e. Ni Luh asek wasver" sad, !ut she had no other $hoi$e. She !e$ame ver" sad when she knew that

she was &regnant' Ni Luh asek arrived at a village. (n old man felt ver" sorr" with

her $ondition. His name was )elantik Bogol. He was a hol" man and had

su&ernatural &ower. He married Ni Luh asek. (nd when the !a!" was !orn, )elantik

Bogol named him I *usti *ede. He loved I gusti *ede just like his own son.

I *usti *ede grew as a strong man. He also mastered a lot of skills su$h as martial

arts and su&ernatural &ower. His ste& father taught him the skills. +ne da" his ste&

father asked him to go to a jungle in en Hill. It was the &la$e Ni Luh asek was

!orn. )elantik Bogol asked him to go there to get more su&ernatural &ower. Before

he left, his ste& father gave him two wea&ons, a s&ear and a keris, it-s a traditional

wav" dou!le!laded dagger. I *usti *ede did it. He went to the en Hill and

meditated. /hile he was meditating, a s&irit of the jungle $ame to him. The s&irit

s&oke to him.

I *usti *ede wanted to hel&. He asked the &eo&le to sta" awa" from the shi&. He

&ra"ed and took out hos wea&ons. Suddenl", two !ig s&irits $ame out of the s&ear

and the keris.

I *usti *ede asked the s&irits to &ull the sinking shi&s !a$k to sea. The &eo&le $ould

not see the s&irits. The" onl" saw I *usti *ede moving his hands. The s&irits slowl"

&ulled the shi&. In just a minute, a shi& just !a$k in the sea. The owner was ver"

ha&&". He gave some of his wealth to I *usti *ede. eo&le were ama2ed with his

&ower. the" named him as I *usti anji Sakti.

I *usti anji Sakti went !a$k to en Hill. He started to !uild a village. eo&le $ame

one !" one. I *usti &anji Sakti &rote$ted them from !ad &eo&le. Slowl" the village

!e$ame a kingdom. I *usti anji Sakti !e$ame the king and he named the kingdom

as Sukasada.

sukasada !e$ame a !ig kigdom, I *usti anji Sakti &lanned to make another

kingdom. He o&ened u& a new area. It was full of !uleleng trees. Therefore he

named the kingdom as Buleleng Kingdom.

He also !uild a great &ala$e. eo&le named it Singaraja. Singa means lion and Raja

means king. /ith his &ower I *usti anji Sakti was like a lion. He alwa"s &rote$ted

his &eo&le from !ad &eo&le. /hile he !e$ame a king, Buleleng Kingdom was safe
