Ancient Wonders of World
History❏ Architecture is the art of designing a
building/ structure for a purpose. ❏ Humans have accomplished amazing
works of art and architecture throughout history. These architectural achievements are known as Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
❏ They show the imagination and sheer hard work of which human beings are capable.
History❏ The World Heritage Organization
has chosen 7 New Wonders to represent all civilizations (they were still made many years ago).
❏ All Wonders of the World have a unique history.
You will choose 1 to create a replica (small model) of the structure.
The Next few slides show your choices:
Make an Ancient Wonder of the World Here it is! YOU get to be the designer of an Ancient Wonder of the World!
We will discuss altogether in class, but you are gathering ideas today.
Step 1: Decide which Ancient Wonders of the World you are going to create. Read the information and view photos in these slides. Find one that is interesting to you. Maybe you would like to know more about one of the choices or maybe you already know a lot about it and want to share your knowledge and create it.

The Choices Lighthouse of Alexandria, Egypt The Great Wall of China, China

More Examples of Materials used
And more materials……….
Your turn to Brainstorm Some Ideas-Which Wonder of the World would you like to make?
What materials would you like to use?
What materials do you have already at home?
Sketch ideas and jot down some notes on the “Brainstorming Wonder Paper.”
Step 2: COMPLETE AT HOMEDecide how to represent this ancient wonder. What are you going to make? Use the information from the pictures and the websites in these slides to gather information about these ancient structures and Decide how you would like to display your ancient structure. Here are some acceptable ideas:
-3 dimensional model- replica materials can include sticks, cardboard, legos, styrofoam, blocks, etc. (example- make a section of the Great Wall of China out of marshmallows)
-2 dimensional picture- painting/ drawing/ collage/ or some of each
(example- paint the Taj Mahal on a canvas or make a collage or mosaic of Chichen Itza)
-Sculpture or Scenery- create a scene in history that include the ancient wonder
(example- a diorama to show the Great Pyramid- Desert, Nile River, and Camel in background)
Step 2: COMPLETE AT HOME
Other Guidelines:● Make a plan. Give yourself time. You should spend at least a few hours on this
project. Or more.● Choose materials wisely- give yourself time to test things out. What you create
should be able to be moved around some, transport to school in a small box or tray, and hold together for showcase.
● Keep your project small and manageable. You could fit this on your lap or desk. ● If you choose an edible material, let your teacher know before. No projects will be
eaten in class.
