Significant Weather Features
♦ Heat wave conditions are likely to prevail over some parts of south Haryana, West & northeast Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh during next 2 days.
♦ Meteorological conditions are likely to be favourable for occurrence of thundersqualls and isolated heavy rainfall over parts of eastern India including West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam & Meghalaya and Mizoram & Tripura during 30th March 1st April.
♦ Yesterday, severe heat wave conditions prevailed at one or two places over Saurashtra & Kutch and heat wave conditions prevailed over some parts of Western Rajasthan, Gujarat region and Saurashtra and Kutch.
♦ Thunderstorm observed at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh and Assam & Meghalaya from 1130 hrs IST of yesterday to 0530 hrs IST of today.
Main Weather Observations
Rainfall recorded (from 0830 to 1730 hours IST of yesterday): Rain/thundershowers observed at a few places over SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Assam & Meghalaya.
♦ Amount of Rainfall recorded at 1730 hours IST of yesterday (1 cm or more) were: Dhubri3; Shillong, Cooch Behar and Nancowry1 each.
♦ Maximum temperature departures as on 29032018: Maximum temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at most places over Jammu & Kashmir; at many places over Himachal Pradesh and West Rajasthan; at a few places over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi; at isolated places over Gujarat; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at most places over Punjab, East Rajasthan and Uttarakhand; at many places over Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand; at a few places over Vidarbha, Marathwada and Bihar; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Uttar Pradesh; at a few places over Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra,Tamilnadu & Puducherry, Telangana, Rayalaseema and near normal over the rest of the country. Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 43.4°C was recorded at Idar (Gujarat region) over the plains of the country.
♦ Minimum temperature departures as on 29032018: Minimum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Bihar; at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir and Gangetic West Bengal; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Rayalaseema; at many places over Uttrakhand, West Rajasthan, SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura; at a few places over Himachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, East Rajasthan, Saurashtra & Kutch, West Madhya Pradesh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamilnadu & Puducherry; at isolated places over West Uttar Pradesh. They were below normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at isolated places over Odisha, Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh. Yesterday, the lowest minimum temperature 14.0°C was recorded at Sikar (East Rajasthan) over the plains of the country.

Meteorological Analysis (Based on 0530 hours IST)
♦ The remnant Western Disturbance as a trough in mid & upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly along 85°E to the north of Lat. 27°N persists.♦ A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from 2nd April.
♦ The core of subtropical westerly Jet stream is seen mainly over northeast India between lat. 23°N and 26°N at 9.5 km above mean sea level.
♦ The eastwest trough from northern parts of Bangladesh to Manipur across Assam & Meghalaya, extending upto 0.9 km above mean sea level persists.
♦ The cyclonic circulation over Odisha and neighbourhood now lies over east Jharkhand & adjoining West Bengal and Bihar and extends upto 0.9 km above mean sea level.
♦ The northsouth trough at 0.9 km above mean sea level from southeast Uttar Pradesh to south interior Karnataka now runs from east Uttar Pradesh to interior Tamilnadu across east Madhya Pradesh, north Telangana and interior Karnataka.
♦ The cyclonic circulation over Comorin area and neighbourhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level persists.
Weather Forecast for next 5 days * upto 0830 hours IST of 04th April 2018
♦ Meteorological subdivision wise detailed 5 days precipitation forecast is given in Table.
♦ No significant change in maximum temperatures likely over many parts of northwest, west and central India during next 23 days. No significant change in maximum temperatures likely over eastern India during next 24 hours and fall by 24°C over thereafter.
♦ No significant change in maximum temperatures likely over rest of the country during next 2 days.
