Mother’s Day
Women’s Choir
Ladies join us to fill up the choir loft
in the 8:30 am service for Mother’s
Day. We will sing a familiar song.
Join us at 8 am for rehearsal. Help
fill the loft with beautiful sounds as
we honor our mothers on May 8!
April showers bring May flowers – or so the saying goes. It’s a time of renewal, new growth, warmer weather, longer days. The showers of April are necessary to nourish the soil for May flowers to make their appearance. The showers of our soul are a time to feed and produce the fruits of the spirit.

Happy May Day…Happy End of School…Happy Graduation…Happy Mother’s Day!!!!

May 10 is Mother’s Day. A day designated to honor and remember the love, sacrifice, care, and nurture that Mother’s give to raise their children. Mother by birth, Mother by choice, a special friend that is “like a Mother”--- Remember to thank them and thank God for them on this special day.

Billy Graham is a preacher, evangelist to millions, author, father, husband. His most important role is as a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ and his commission to all believers. His last two books, available in the Book Nook, share his thoughts and his passions even as he has crossed the decades into his 90s.
Nearing Home speaks of life, faith, and finishing well. In the last paragraph of the introduction to this book, written at age 93, Mr. Graham writes: “Someday our life’s journey will be over. In a sense, we all are nearing home. As we do so, I pray that you and I may not only learn what it means to grow older but, with God’s help, also learn to grow older with grace and find the guidance needed to finish well.”
Where I Am was published in 2015. “Each short chapter examines the reality that each of us chooses where to spend life after death.” John 14:1-3 reads, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, also believe in Me…I go to prepare a place for you…I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may also be.” Mr. Graham has proclaimed this resolve, “When I die, tell others that I’ve gone to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ – that’s where I am.”

National Day of Prayer
“Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet.”
Thursday, May 5th, 2016 will mark the 65th annual observance of the National Day of Prayer. Our theme for 2016 is Wake Up America, emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to return to the God of Fathers in reverence for His Holy Name. To further highlight our theme, we’ve chosen Isaiah 58:1a as our Scripture for this year: “Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet.”
As we come upon this day of prayer, we find ourselves at a critical juncture in our nation’s history. Over the past several years, and even decades, we’ve seen the American culture shift to one that seems to have a very limited place for God, His Word, and His people. In addition to the culture and media advocating behaviors and sentiments contrary to the expressed counsel of God, we have also endured several key pieces of legislation and high court rulings which now support and protect such lifestyles while stifling and seeking to silence voices that attempt to shine God’s light on the matter. As an election year, it is critical not only to seek God’s guidance and blessing as our country elects our new president, and to pray for genuine spiritual revival. Our prayer will strengthen us as followers of Jesus to consistently be witnesses of His grace and glory no matter what circumstances we may face.
On the National Day of Prayer this year, across the country, many will gather in local communities to commemorate this event and to petition the Lord for His blessings. In Clovis, we will observe the National Day of Prayer in two ways. First, we will hold a prayer vigil at the Christian Believers office on 5th & Main on Thursday, May 5 from 6:00-11:45 am. Sign ups will be handed out to local churches to help organize who will be praying and at what times. As part of this prayer vigil, there will be resources at the Christian Believers office to help guide us in what we might pray for. Secondly, there will be a community-wide observance at the Curry County Courthouse at 7th & Main on Thursday, May 5 from 12:00-1:00 pm.
At this crucial time for our nation, we can do nothing more important than pray. Thank you in advance for making this spiritual discipline a personal priority and please make every effort to be involved in the National Day of Prayer observance. As we connect with God through prayer, we seek His direction and His power in connecting our local and national cultures to Christ!
Praying with You,
BJ Brooks

FOOD FOR THOUGHT From the Desk of Dr. Yancy
To be a MOTHER you have first to be a WOMAN!
As a woman, God has given us a mission. Genesis 1:27-28, be fruitful and multiply, 2:18 helpmate,
3:20 call the mother of all leaving, before having a child.
M - MISSION
TO O - ORGANIZE
TO
T - TRAIN TO
H - HELP TO
E - EDUCATE
TO R - REMEMBER who God is!
The Woman was called Eve (THE MOTHER OF ALL LEAVING) She was called woman and mother before
children were involved. You see, Mothers, even though you may not have given birth to a child, you are
considered a mother because of our duties and
responsibility, “attribute,” (something that sets apart an individual from others of the same kind) that God has
given to women. Some people even call it “women
intuition.”
As a mother, we know that many things happen in this world from “life to death.” It is so important to know
Christ as your personal Savior. The trials and the
tribulation we have to go through in this life if we don’t have a personal relationship with God through Jesus.
(John 14:6, Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father (God) except
through Me.”) We will constantly be stressed, depressed,
in a hopeless state of mind. Remember Jesus is the way.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and
supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses
all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 4:6–7 NKJV)

Our Facebook Ministries
Dear Folks,
Our years at Central Baptist were “golden” in our memory...that you would remember us, especially Phy.
She loved her church family there and shared many memories that were beautiful with our brothers and sisters.
It is a comfort to know you are praying for us in our great loss.
In the Love of Christ,
Don & the Wheat Family
Thanks to Mr. Dwight Sheriff from this church for his many visits with Ray Skeen at the rehab center here in Clovis and phone calls and cards from others.

Dear Church Family,
We were given so much love and support during the home-going of our beloved Ron Harvey. Thank you for your prayer, visits, food, the deacon’s box and cards. God bless each of you.

~Thanks...
Dear Church Family of Central Baptist,
We want to thank you all so very much for all your cards letters, phone calls, visits, food and prayers. We appreciate all your concern so very much. We take so much for granted when we are healthy but we are supposed to be thankful and grateful no matter what. We weren’t promised a rose garden without thorns.
Again, thanks for your concern and continue to keep us in your prayers, as we have at least one more major surgery ahead. It is so nice to be a part of such a loving, caring and sharing church.
In Him,
Travis and Jan Denton
