Chemical Method notes:
Method:the sample is heated at 150oCfortwohoursinthepresenceofpotassiumdichromate,whichisastrong oxidizing agent. Organic compounds in the sample are oxidized, reducing the dichromate ion (Cr2O7

1. Runsamplesandblankswiththesamebatchofvials. Theblankisstablewhenstoredinthedarkandcanbeusedforfurthermeasurementswithvialsfromthesamebatch.
2. Don‘tplacehotvialsintheadapter.Allowthevialstocooltoroomtemperaturefor a minimum 45 minutes. It is recommended to leave the vials to cool over night.
3. suspended solids in the vial lead to incorrect measurements. For this reason it is important to place thevialscarefullyintheadapter.Theprecipitantatthebottomofthesampleshouldnotbe suspended.
