that we can continue to provide the current variety of parish
ministries to the people of the Hillcrest area. If you have
discontinued your financial suport, please consider reinstating
that practice of your Catholic faith in response to the call of

Father Ireland
Parents: Please continue to encourage your children to
use their offertory envelopes when they come to church with
you each week ~ a very good practice for them to develop.
The summer months are drawing near, so this seems like a
good time to remind you that while you may be away on
vacation, we continue to depend on your weekly support to
meet the parish’s operating expenses. You may continue
your regular giving even while away from home by enrolling
in our “direct deposit” option at the Credit Union or through
your bank’s Bill Pay option. Contact our bookkeeper, Eileen
Gerome (216.382.7601) for more information or to sign up.
My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Today we are celebrating the Ascension of the Lord. On
this day we also remember our dear mothers, living and
deceased. May the Lord bless them and look with kindness
upon them.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members
of the Committee for the Main Event for a most enjoyable
evening and the members of the parish staff who assisted
them. A special thank you goes out to the band, to all of our
donors and volunteers, and to everyone who came to be part
of the evening. It was a wonderful time. Thank you one and
all.
On page 6 of this week’s bulletin you will find information
and the registration sheet for those wishing to attend the
Priesthood Ordination of Deacon Matthew Weaver in Saint
Louis. We will carpool to Toledo where we will meet with
the bus from Detroit. It promises to be a wonderful time.
PLEASE SIGN UP EARLY! AND PLEASE LET ME
KNOW IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND AND WHAT KIND
OF ACCOMMODATIONS YOU DESIRE.
Be sure to keep Sunday, August 5, free for his First Solemn

Tuesday, May 16, until Thursday, May 24, asking for his
intecession to our Heavenly Father to grant our prayers in
support of life. Let us all continue to pray for life always.

Cans For Corridors Project
Students in Grade 5 are working on a project called “Cans
for Corridors” in conjunction
with the Akron Zoo. The
project will involve planting
trees to build up the South
American Rainforests and
restore homes to some of the
Earth’s endangered animals.
Here is how YOU can help:

American Rainforest. Garbage cans
will be located in the vestibule this

Dear Parishioners,
This week we celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week.
Corpus Christi Academy is blessed with a dynamic
faculty/staff of teacher leaders who drive instruction as
well as community at our school. We are very thankful to
have such compassionate and enthusiastic educators!
Corpus Christi Academy was alive with music this past
week as Mrs. Mast led the students in grades 5, 6, and 7 in
an instrumental music concert on Tuesday and Mr. Trost
fired up the Academy bands on Wednesday evening. Both
performances were inspirational! WELL DONE!!!
Please keep our Preschool children in your prayers as they
begin their summer vacation this week. Our Preschool
students had a successful year. We are looking forward to
seeing you back at the Academy in August.
Are you interested, or do you know someone who is
interested, in Kindergarten or Pre-K for the 2018-2019
school year? Corpus Christi Academy is planning to hold
a Kindergarten and Pre-K Open House on Tuesday,
May 22, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Come learn about our
early learning opportunities and meet our teaching staff for
these students, Mrs. Duncan and Miss Olp.
