COURAGE AND BEAUTY: CENTRAL ASIAN WOMEN’S TRADITIONS When I first discovered ancient Persian Art, I was attracted by its delicate beauty and by the obvious cultural influences of Indian and Chinese art. After attending a California performance by Gulistan Dance Theater, I knew I wanted to paint the beautiful textiles and traditions of these women. After I had painted three or more subjects, I saw emotional themes emerging from my own experience. These scenes express the encouragement and joy which make women’s friendshps valuable. The single portraits show the regal beauty of wedding traditions. The paintings are generously sized at 76cm x 100cm, and with the colors and patterns, make a strong statement. Provenance includes solo exhibitions at the Olam Einan Gallery in Modiin, Israel, and the Jerusalem Theatre. Your choice of these energetic images reflects your colorful personality and zest for life. Layers of patterns echo your intellectual complexity. Spice up your collection with these vibrant and dramatic images from the Silk Road. For purchasing information contact: Tel. (+972) 50-246-3254 laurel@laurelpaintings.com

Women's Friendships on the Silk Road

COURAGE AND BEAUTY:

CENTRAL ASIAN WOMEN’S TRADITIONS

When I first discovered ancient Persian Art, I was attracted by its delicate beauty and by the obvious cultural influences of Indian and

Chinese art. After attending a California performance by Gulistan Dance Theater, I knew I wanted to paint the beautiful textiles and

traditions of these women.

After I had painted three or more subjects, I saw emotional themes emerging from my own experience. These scenes express the

encouragement and joy which make women’s friendshps valuable. The single portraits show the regal beauty of wedding traditions.

The paintings are generously sized at 76cm x 100cm, and with the colors and patterns, make a strong statement. Provenance includes solo

exhibitions at the Olam Einan Gallery in Modiin, Israel, and the Jerusalem Theatre.

Tea Cup Dance is traditional in

Central Asia. There actually is tea in

one of the cups, which is poured out at

the end of the dance.

Frame Drums and Pomegranates

Two friends giggle, improvising lively

rhythms. Summer is ending and the

pomegranates are ripe.

New Fabric Purchase (new ikat)

Young women imagine the beautiful

new clothes which will come from this

fabric.

Wedding Dance is traditionally

performed by women, for women only.

Water Dance is an ancient

springtime tradition in Central

Asia.

Serving Chai

Friends share tea, seated on a topchan,

platform.

The hostess pours her guest's tea back and

forth three times, to cool it to a comfortable

temperature.

Their heads incline towards one another,

indicating mutual respect.

Rich traditional textiles patterns surround

them.

Eyebrow Hat is an example of

fabulous embellishment used in

Central Asian weddings.

Crown Hat shows a bride

adorned like royalty.

Under the Veil, the intensity of her

gaze is softened.

Your choice of these energetic images reflects your colorful personality

and zest for life. Layers of patterns echo your intellectual complexity.
