specialising in woolen trade. Then coal, limestone, iron ore, steel, locks, motorcycles, cars. Now

engineering and services. NOT Birmingham. Once

the world’s largest trolleybus system. First automatic traffic lights in UK. Relatively old population, with

total population declining since 1970s. Large Sikh

and Hindu communities. Goal is to become a

world-leading cluster for aerospace industry.
