Self-awarenessGoal Setting

Goal of the session

Who are you, and where do you want to be?

To develop yourself and others during your time abroad, you need to know who you are and where your journey started.

Start of a journey: What are your values?

Please grab yourself a pen and some paper!

Examples of values

Find your valuesEveryone has many different domains in life. These could be: university, job, family, health, yourself etc. Please think about what your own 3 main domains are, and write them down. Now add 9 values in each of your life areas.

These questions can help you to find your values.

What is important to me in life? When do I feel like I am important?

From what things do I gain self consciousness?

When do I respect myself? When am I proud of myself?

When did I already experience these feelings?

How do I react when I am stressed? What makes me feel uncomfortable?

Prioritize Sort every value from 1 (most important) to 9 (least important) in each of the 3 domains.

Which values mean the same? You should cross out any duplicates!

Now look at your results! As last step, you take the top 3 values from every domain, and prioritize them. Also, check which words mean more or less the same until you have 5 values overall.

Now you know your core values
