    Introduction to Blackboard
  • 2. Blackboard is CVTCs course management system; instructors use Bb to post course materials; send emails to students; create content, collaboration,and assessment materials; and post grades.
  • 3. Navigation
    All online and hybrid Bb courses consist of the following navigation buttons:
    • Announcements page provides timely information to students such as a welcome statement or a change in a due date.
    • 4. Help page provides links to technology help, academic help, counseling, and more.
    • 5. Course Information page provides links to the following information: Course Syllabus, Plagiarism Statement, Citing Sources, Basic Netiquette Guidelines, Get HELP Anytime!, and ADA Compliance.
    • 6. Assignments area provides access to coursework, instructions, assignments, due dates, and tests.
    • 7. Tools page provides links to communication and collaboration tools that enhance interaction between users.
    • 8. Contacts page is a place where instructors can add profile information about themselves such as office location, office hours, and phone numbers.

    You can communicate with your students using announcements, email messages, and your profile information.
    • Announcements provide a welcome statement and other timely information to students.
    • 10. Contact information provides information about the instructor such as office location, officer hours, and phone numbers.
    • 11. Email can be sent via Blackboard (Bb) to individual students, groups of students, or all students. When emailing from Blackboard, students do NOT see the names of the other recipients; the To field contains the senders email address only. Emails from Bb are sent to the students CVTC email address. You also receive a copy in your CVTC email. The email is NOT stored in your Sent Items folder, so you may wish to save them in an Outlook folder.
