Take it Room-by-Room

• Start in the living room and work your way through your house taking stock of all your belongings.

• Try to get a sense of how big of a move this is going to be. Do you need to hire professional movers to help? Or is it a small enough move to tackle with a friend?

Sort Everything

• When you move into a new home, it’s an opportunity for a fresh start. Why waste your time schlepping a bunch of old clothes or DVDs you no longer use?

• Before moving, sort everything.

• Make a pile for things to keep, things to donate and things to throw away.

• This will help keep your new home clutter-free!

Find the Best Local Movers

• When it comes to hiring a moving company, make sure you do a little research.

• Look for companies with good reviews and testimonials from previous clients.

• Compare pricing between companies and look for movers that are offering specials or discounts.

Supplies

• Before you start packing, stock up on boxes, bubble wrap and packing tape.

• If you hire a moving company, they will provide these for you.

• You can often get boxes for free from local grocery stores, or you can always pick them up at any hardware store.

Pack and Load

• Pack fragile items carefully and wrap them with bubble wrap or newspaper to avoid breaking.

• Don’t let boxes get too heavy.

• Be sure to label every box with

its contents and the

room it should go

to in your new home.

• Load the truck!

PRO TIP:If you have a busy schedule, hiring

movers to pack for you can save a ton

of time.

Pack a Bag and Hit the Road

• Whether you’re moving across town or across the country, when you get there all of your stuff is going to be in boxes.

• Make life easier for yourself by packing a separate overnight bag, so you can change or take a shower without having to open any boxes.

• Then it’s time to drive to your new home!

Get Settled• Unpacking is a huge task, but it’s also an exciting

opportunity to make your new house into a home.

• Take your time, unpack room-by-room, have fun with decorating and get settled into your new home sweet home.
