The Heritage Golf Club was awarded the title of “Indian Ocean’s Best Golf Course” for the third year in a row whereas Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa won the title of “Indian Ocean’s Best Golf Hotel” for the first time. Here is a closer look at the two winners of the World Golf Awards 2016 and the ceremony itself.
Heritage Golf Club,three times a champion
Three-time winner seems an unlikely feat, and yet this year again, the Heritage Golf Club was awarded the title of “Indian Ocean’s Best Golf Course” (2014, 2015, 2016). The award underlines the tireless teams’ endeavour to give it their best shot. Whether it is at the management level, the maintenance of the course, the Clubhouse or the Golf Academy, Heritage Golf Club is constantly reassessing itself and pursuing innovative thinking to offer an enhanced experience to its clientele.
Jonathan Menteath, Heritage Golf Club’s General Manager, was present at the awards ceremony held at the splendid Conrad Algarve in Portugal. He recounts how the nominees were greeted at the hotel on November 10th with a round of golf scheduled the following day on one of three of the Quinta do Lago courses. That night, a lavish dinner was hosted, and the next morning, the World Golf Awards Classic ceremony was held. On the evening of the 12th, the list of winners was revealed before the guests’ departures the following day.
Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort is incredibly proud to have been awarded the title of “Indian Ocean’s Best Golf Hotel” for the very first time. In 2015, the international golf championship, the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, put the hotel on the map. This award endorses its identity as a hotel designed for avid golfers.
