The 1st NX200 Launching Show in Seoul by tiky On September 29, 2011 at 11AM (KST), the first NX200 launch show was held at Samsung D’light in Seoul.

The NX200, which was already revealed at IFA in early September and attracted a lot of attention from many specialists and visitors, incorporates a 20.3 Megapixels APS-C CMOS sensor and DRIM3 DSP developed in-house by Samsung, ensuring top-class resolution and high quality image. A lot of the press and audience members were attending this launch show, and Mr. Myoung Sup Han, Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Imaging Business, Samsung Electronics, hosted the NX200 launch show by announcing the newly released NX200. He said, “Lately, a trend in the mirrorless camera market is making gadgets smaller and making them have a higher performance. In order to take greater ownership of the mirrorless camera, we’re going to push ahead with high resolution, advanced speed performance, and premium design beyond consumers’ expectations.

Next, Mr. Young Bae Kim, Director of Product Planning Group, made a presentation on the NX200’s new features and strengths. He then introduced each specifications, features, and optic performances from four kinds of NX i-Function lenses that were disclosed at the beginning of 2011. His speech emphasized that the NX200 is the premium mirrorless camera with higher performance and innovative design to take the leadership in the rapidly growing mirrorless camera market. The press and audience members, who saw his presentation and experienced the products in person, gave the Samsung NX200 high marks for its development of sensor technology, and they expressed their satisfaction not only with its high performance, but also its sleek design and perfection.

The journalists were very much interested in the newly released NX200 and the functions of the lens as well as future prospects. I’d like to share with you some of the questions and answers that were asked

Q. The NX200 has been released. Does this mean that you are focusing on compact mirrorless products? A. Young Bae Kim (Director of Product Planning Group) : The products are being released in two lineups: products that are in connection with the NX10 and NX11 and stylish compact products that are in connection with the NX100 and NX200. Future products will also continue within these ranges and we are planning on introducing various products that reflect the consumers’ needs.

Q. Q. How are you planning on carrying out the strategy between DSLR products and mirrorless cameras?

A. Hyun Sik Lee (Vice President of IT Marketing group of Korea Sales & Marketing Headquarters) : If you look at the market condition and the consumer trend, interests in mirrorless products are growing and I expect the market to grow as well. Q. Do you have plans to connect the products with TV and smartphones?

A. Myoung Sup Han (Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Imaging Business) : We are planning on a function which operates in connection with the cloud system, such as mobiles and tablet PCs. We are striving to keep up the pace with the consumers needs by developing the functions that enables uploading and downloading faster and easier.

After the official ceremony, interview with the executives and photo sessions of the models followed. The special edition of the NX200 in collaboration with Swarovski Elements was revealed. 200 pieces of Swarovski, which signifies and celebrates the release of the NX200, and the luxurious off-white color leather case is expected to gain much popularity. (It’s the limited offer only in Korea.) Through the successful NX200 launch show, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd enhanced the markets trust in optical technology, announcing plans to improve market share and the mirrorless market by absorbing the DSLR users into the mirrorless market.
