Rovaniemi is the capital of Lapland in Finland, located at the northern Arctic Circle. Altought Christmas time comes but once a year, in Rovaniemi you can experience Christmas throughtout the year. Rovaniemi is the hometown of Santa Claus who can be met on any day of the year at the Santa Claus Office on the Arctic Circle. Welcome to Rovaniemi, the heart of Lapland!

History of TourismHistory of Tourism In the early days trading brought people to Rovaniemi Beginning

of tourism services Ideal location in the junction of two rivers and on the border

between north and south Rovaniemi market was an important event for locals, travellers

and traders in early 20th century Tourism started to grow in 1980s when the first charter flights

landed to Rovaniemi airport Christmas tourism started and was soon bigger than other

seasons Regular growth in amount of tourists since 1990s, except in

2001-2002 These days in Christmas is fully booked

Growth is needed in other seasons, especially in summer
