Geography
Paris, the capital of France and of the Ile de France region, covers a surface area of 105 km² and has a population, according to the last census in 1999, of 2,125,246. the city is divided into 20 administrative arrondissements.Paris, also called the city of light because is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, with 45 million tourists every year. Paris has an oceanic climate and is affected by the Notrth Atlantic Current so the city rarely sees extremely high or low temperatures.

For centuries Paris has been a flourishing European cultural centre and a meeting point for artists from all over the world. Today the city's multicultural inheritance can be admired in hundreds of museums,galleries, and churches that grace nearly every part of the city. Parisian culture is also ingrained in the sounds of bustling streets, bouncy clubs and splendid operas.
