Basic Principles and Terminology
• Revenue per Click or Impression– Google AdSense– Place Google Ads on your blog– Earn when they are viewed or clicked
• Affiliate Publishing– Place specially tracked links, images and
banners on your blog– Earn when someone buys the product/service
as a result of clicking-through from your site
Quantifying the Opportunity
• “Beer money” – a modest on-going supplement to your travel budget – paid direct into your account
• How much you earn depends on how much effort you put in and how many people you can get to regularly visit your website/blog
• Google AdSense generates a few pence per click• Affiliate commissions average around 5%• Earnings vary enormously but could be tens or
hundreds of pounds per month
