Campanila lui Giotto se află în Piazza del Duomo din Florenţa. Această clopotniţă este una din principalele opere de artă gotică florentină. This bell tower takes its name from the fact that it was designed by the great artist Giotto. It rises, slender and sheer, to the right of the cathedral. It is clad in polychrome marble. Its plan is square and it is reinforced at the corners by octagonal buttresses. It stands 84.7 m. tall. Giotto first began work in 1334. By the time the artist died, he had completed only the lower order, with its distinctive reliefs set in hexagonal panels. Work continued under the supervision of Andrea Pisano and was completed in 1359 under Francesco Talenti who was responsible for the top three floors, which are marked by broad gabled twin - and three-light mullioned windows. These lighten the massive structure, which terminates in a high crowing cornice. The sculptures, reliefs and statues are an integral part of the structure and not mere decorative elements

Piaţa Domului a fost eliberată de povara traficului auto abia din anul 1988, printr-o lege menită să stopeze degradarea operelor pe care le găzduieşte. Este vorba de Bazilica Santa Maria del Fiore (Domul din Florenţa), Clopotniţa (Campanile di Giotto) şi Baptisteriul ( Battistero di San Giovanni).Catedrala, construita in stil gotic, impreuna cu Turnul lui Giotto si Baptisierul fac parte din patrimoniul UNESCO (ca şi întreg centrul istoric al oraşului) .

Piazza del Duomo (English: "Cathedral Square") is located in the heart of the historic center of Florence, (Tuscany - Italy). It is one of the most visited places in Europe and the world; here we can find the Florence Cathedral with the Cupola del Brunelleschi, the Giotto's Campanile, the Florence Baptistery, the Loggia del Bigallo, the Opera del Duomo Museum, and the Arcivescovile and Canonici's palace.Florence is one of the few cities around the world whose entire historical center is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

All the present works of art in the campanile are copies. The originals were removed between 1965 and 1967 and are now on display in the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo, behind the cathedral.
