DRAFT OBJECTIVES

•Increase the modal share of trips to / from and within the city centre by walking, cycling and public transport

•Provide access for residents, blue badge holders, tourists and traffic essential to sustain economic functions

•Enhance the quality and legibility of main pedestrian spaces, key development areas and main access routes

•Reduce harmful traffic emissions

•Enhance road safety and personal security for all city centre users

Bus Operations

•General support for an improvement to bus operations and public realm at Union Street.

•Limited support for introducing a ‘bus hub’ at Stockwell Place in order to encourage less buses to travel through the City Centre

•Limited support for use of alternative bus routes to reduce concentration of buses on key corridors such as Union Street

•General opposition to allowing buses on the pedestrianised section of Argyle Street
