Designs and features

Eureka Tower is named after the Eureka Stockade, and rebellion in Ballarat on the Victorian goldfields in 1854. This is represented in the design, the building has a gold crown representing the gold rush and a red stripe representing the blood spilt during the rebellion.

• The blue glass cladding represents the Eureka Stockade flag as shown below.

• The white horizontal stripes also represent markings on a surveyor's measuring staff.

The height of the tower or height of its highest liveable floor, makes the Eureka Tower the tallest residential building in the world when it was completed. The Eureka Tower has more residential floors than other buildings in the world.

• The Eureka Tower has 92 floors with 84 of them made up of 556 apartments. The tower stands at a height of 297.3 metres. The Eureka Tower has a unique feature of the Eureka Skydeck with the Edge which sits on the 88th floor.

Construction • The tower started

construction in August 2001 and took 4 years and 2 months.

• The builder’s used reinforced concrete using a slipform method. The tower's lift core passed the height of Rialto Towers on 9 November 2004.

• On 23rd of May 2006, the crane on top of the tower was dismantled by a smaller crane, which was dismantled by a smaller crane that could be taken down the service elevator.

• Eureka Tower has 24 carat gold plated glass windows on the top 10 floors of the building. People were allowed to live in the building up to Level 80 from July 2006.
