Here are just a few of the highlights of Waikiki and Honolulu life in April.

Be a part of the 50 Million Dollar Party At The Blaisdell Arena. It is the Hawaii's biggest dance party featuring the music from 1964 – 2014 with giant dance floor, door prizes, tons of music and fun! Enjoy music of Earth, Wind & Fire, Chubby Checker, Temptations, Young Rascals and more. 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Blaisdell Arena. Tickets: $19.64.

Participate in 29-Annual Duke Kahanamoku Beach Challenge. It is a fun event for the wholewhole community and all ages! It includes a 1/4 mile canoe sprint race, Ancient Hawaiian Makahiki land games, SUP Paddle Races, Crafts Marketplace and Non-stop live entertainment! The event kicks off with a double-hulled canoe procession, in oli (chant) and Kahiko (ancient hula and song) by the Kamehameha Schools Hawaiian Ensemble class. Here are the highlights of the event in more details:

• Non-stop live entertainment will include Jake Shimabukuro and Henry Kapono • Quarter-mile (1/4 mile) canoe sprint race will take place at the Duke's Beach where

canoes, paddles and steersman will be provided if needed.• Ancient Hawaiian Makahiki land games. Visitors will be invited to participate in Huki

Kaula (Hawaiian Tug-of-War). And it's always exciting to watch!• SUP Paddle Races will be held in Rainbow Lagoon• Canoe Glide Demonstration will take place at the Rainbow Lagoon and Duke Beach• Craft and Hawaiian Artist Marketplace where you will be able to purchase souvenirs as

enjoy Hawaiian artistry

How about some running? Participate in a 5K run or a 1 mile walk benefiting health and fitness for Hawaii’s children on Sunday April 27, 2014 in Downtown Honolulu. The event will start at the State Capital and finish at the Frank Fasi Civic Center in Downtown Honolulu. This is the mission statement for this event:

“The Honolulu 5K seeks to promote health and fitness for Hawaii’s children to decrease childhood obesity and increase participation in youth sports and recreation programs. We want

to help our schools to be able to teach our children how to live a more active and healthy lifestyle. We also seek to promote fitness within our communities through participation by friends and families of our children. Proceeds from these events will be distributed back to the participating schools to be used to enhance or improve the school’s physical fitness, play and athletic programs.”

• Sean NaauaoSean Naauao is a Slack Key guitarist and vocalist, composer and producer and has won Hawaii’s prestigious Na Hoku Hanohano Awards multiple times including Island Contemporary Album of the Year for his popular “Fish and Poi”. He has been recognized for his exceptional vocal ability. Sean made Frank Hewitt’s traditional Hawaiian composition, “Kapilina,” a famous hit.

• Kuuipo KumukahiKuuipo is a multi-award winning self taught Hawaiian musician, recording artist and a composer. She is currently the president of the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts and is also associated with the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame.

• Lehua KalimaLehua Kalima, Multi Na Hoku Hanohano Award Winner, is a fenominal singer with mesmerizing voice. She performs romantic, and velvety smooth songs.

• Ke OahuKe Oahu comes from a musical family that goes back five generations. Featuring sisters JoAnn Iwalani Maio, Leilani Vakauta, Jonette Maio, and brother Kalani Maio, the group takes their inspiration from parents Joseph Kalanipii Maio of Maui and Maude Leialoha of Oahu.
