PLACES WHERE WE LIVED IN…..

(1956 – 1960) Diana lived in Manhattan with her mom and later in the Bronx with her mom and dad.

(1957 – 1961) I (John) lived in Brooklyn with uncle Nando and later in the Bronx by myself.

(1961 – 1963) After we got married July 15, 1961 we moved to Davidson Ave. in the Bronx.

My uncle Nando eventually moved to Miami, Florida.

My inlaws, Audrey and Mathew, to the Bronx, then Miami and eventually California.

The building was demolished and it is now the one in the picture. (looking west)

I lived with my uncle Nando, his wife Dulce, daughter Mamita & granddaughter Mercita.

I had a 1955 pink and gray Chevrolet BelAir. Antonio (Dulce’s son) & Dolores with their daughter Dulcita, lived around the corner on Sterling Place going west.

1958 – 1960 Diana and Audrey went to live with Uncle Reinaldo at an apartment on E. 28th. Street between 3rd. And 2nd. Avenues in Manhattan. The buildings from the corner of 3rd. Down to here were demolished and replaced with these light colored buildings. The Hook and Ladder #7 Fire Engine Company #16 building that was east of the apartment is still here but is now a Self Realization Temple (Yogananda). The H&L NYFD company moved around the corner on East 29th. St.

1960-61 – I moved alone from Brooklyn to the Bronx to be closer to the school. At 2215 University Ave. one block north of NYU, College of Engineering in the Bronx. I was on the left 2nd, floor of the house. My friend Moises Yarmus lived on the Attic above me. The owners of the house were also the owners of the “CABOROJENO” Nightclub at the time.

University Ave. is now Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. and NYU-Eng. campus in the Bronx is now Cuny-Bronx Community College.

1961 – when we got married, after our honeymoon in Washington D.C., we went to live to the apartment that Diana and her parents, Audrey and Mathew, had at 1800 Davidson Ave. in the Bronx. It was on the east side of the street and on the hill behind the IRT(3) 176 th. St. Subway station. We reached the station thru a public stairs in between buildings from Davidson Ave. down to Jerome Ave. My in-laws moved across the street. In 1962 they went to Miami and we moved to their place until 1963 when I finished NYU and we joint them in Miami. Moises Yarmus and Vicky got married too and came to live on the same building at the same fifth floor. Moises and I studied engineering at NYU (New York University) in the Bronx campus. He is cuban of yewish descent. I lost him when we left for Miami.
