2. Mt. Mianshan, or Mianshang, became famous after Jie Zitui,
the prime minister of Jin Kingdom during Chun-Qiu period, was burnt
to death here with his mother in hermit. The Mountain was also
named after him, Jieshan. It is located south of Fen river, 20 km
away from Jiexiu City, at the borders between Jiexiu, Lingshi and
Qinyuan. With mountainous beauty, ancient relics, relingious
temples and revolutionary monuments all in one, it is nationally
famous for its history and culture and a significant scenic spot in
Shanxi Province. Geography: Mt. Mianshan is located at the
southeast end of Taiyuan basin, on the south side of Fenhe river,
bordering Qinyuan County to the southe and spreading into Lingshi
County to the west. The mountain range covers an area some fifty
kilometers in diameter, the height of its peak being 2,566.6 meters
above sea level and relative height over 1,300 meters. The Jiexiu
railway station is on the Datong-Yuncheng line, and the Datong-
Yuncheng highway and Highway 108 go through the city, which is 137
km from Taiyuan in the north and 135 km from Linfen in the south.
Mt. Mianshan is noted for its natural and cultural scenes,
especially for its cultural relics ,and the mixture of Taoism,
Buddism, and Confucian teaching. Various spectacular scenes provide
tourists with many choices: to climb the Dragon Ridge, to worship
Jie Zitui, to travel to the holy caves ,to watch sunset at the
Dragon Head Temple, to overlook Daluo Temple the largest Taoist
temple in China, to walk along the Sky Bridge, to visit the Funnel
Spring Temple, to ascend the steps in front of Zhujiawa Temple, to
watch the bell hanging performance at the Buddhist Yunfeng temple,
