IBIZA, BIODIVERSITY AND CULTURE

• Ibiza provides an excellent example of theinteraction between the marine and coastalecosystems.

• Ibiza preservesconsiderableevidence of itslong history. Thearchaeologicalsites at Sa Caleta(settlement) andPuig des Molins(necropolis)

• The fortified Upper Town (Alta Vila) is anoutstanding example of Renaissance militaryarchitecture; it had a profound influence on thedevelopment of fortifications in the Spanishsettlements of the New World."

Serra de Tramuntana - Mallorca

• The cultural landscape of the Serra is the fruitof the exchange of knowledge betweencultures

• According to the European LandscapeConvention, Cultural Landscape is “an area, asperceived by people, whose character is theresult of the action and reaction of naturaland/or human factors”.

SAN CRISTOBAL DE LA LAGUNA
