About My Experience

My experience that I have chosen to talk about is my trip to Canada. I went to Manitoba, Canada and I got to see a lot of the land, the tourist stops, and talk to a lot of different people. It was a very neat experience. I also went hiking, fishing, canoeing, and just learned a little bit about everything.

Connections with the Standards The Living Environment

5.4.3 - Observe and explain that some organisms are made of a collection of similar cells that benefit from cooperating. Explain that some organisms' cells, such as human nerve and muscle cells, vary greatly in appearance and perform very different roles in the organism.

Nature of Science and Technology 4.1.4 - Describe how people all over the world have taken

part in scientific investigation for many centuries.

What was Canada going to be like? Canada was by far better than I thought it

was going to be. The province, Manitoba, has a lot of flat land and is used for mostly growing crops. The climate during the summer is very humid, more so than the States. The temperate gets up in the 90’s most days. Manitoba is also known for its many lakes.

What are the differences between Canada and the United States? There were many differences that I found while I

was there. One difference is how they measure their temperature and speeds. They measure in metrics. When I first got there I actually thought they got to drive a 100 on the highway.

Another interesting fact, was that they have l loonies and toonies. Loonies are one dollar coins and Toonies are two dollar coins. This was kind of hard for me to keep track of since we don’t have this in the United States.

Continuing

In Canada, they do not have drive thru banks. You have got to go inside to do everything if you need to deal with the banks.

Where I went in Canada, they took both American money and Canada money. I thought this was neat because I figured I’d have to get all my cash changed over, which I didn’t have to do at all.

What kind of wildlife does Canada have? While I was there, I got lucky enough to be

able to go hiking and canoeing. While I was canoeing with a friend, she taught about the wildlife that lives in most of the lakes. They have beavers, swans, musk rats, many different insect types as well.

Canada is also known for moose and its bear population. When I was hiking I actually got to see some deer. It was neat to see how close they would actually get to you.

What are they people going to be like? Canadians have their own unique accents

like most people from other places do. While I was there, people tried to get me to speak like Canadians. They talk very flat and pronounce everything.

Most Canadians that I met seemed to be very laid back and not really worried about to much, but what they were doing in the current time.

Conclusion

Canada was a fun experience for me and I hope to go back in the future. I learned so much about Canada and how it is and isn’t compared to the United States. Learning about the wildlife was probably the most fun part of the whole trip because I got to learn and see it all as well.
