Széchenyi Thermal Bath and Public Bath

The biggest bath in Europe, opened in 1913

Expansion in 1927: bathing sections for men and women and open-air bath

Pump-room built in1939, in 1981: establishment of a new hospital

St. Gellért Thermal Bath and Public Bath

• One of the most beloved thermal baths of the Turks, named „virgin’s bath”

• Its marvelous building was opened in 1918 during the times of the Secession, and this exclusive building soon became the symbol of Budapest

• In 1927 the surf-bath with its seaside atmosphere was opened, which since then still operates, as a unique curiosity in the world

• Its biggest treasure is the two-level and 700 m2 bathing hall, with a loggia, glassed roof, coloured mosaic / tessellation, sculptures, gargoyles

• One of those baths in Europe, where towels are used during the bathing at the section for men and women as well

• 11 pools with hot-spring water of 26-38C containing sodium, fluoride, calcium, magnesium, hydro-carbonate and sulphate

• One of its curiosities is the inhalatorium operating in the hospital

St. Lukács Thermal Bath and Public Bath

• In 12th century the Knights of St. John, who have first settled down and helped the sick, then the Knights of Rhodes and of Malta, who have built up baths near their abbeys

• In 1884 a healing hostel was built up with a modern water cure section

• The pump-room of the bath was built in 1937

• In 1979 the first section offering complex healing bath attendance, the so called ‘Day-time Hospital’

• In 1999 the modernization of the open-air pools took place

• 5 pools

• The temperature of the hot-spring water in the pools is 22-36 C and contains chloride, sulphate, alkali, fluoride, calcium, magnesium and hydro-carbonate

• Excellent for locomotor diseases

Rudas Thermal Bath and Public Bath

• In the middle of the 16th century the fanciest Turkish bath of Budapest was built up

• Under its ten meters high dome hold by eight pillars, there is an octagonal pool

• The bath was built in 1896

• In the pump-room can be consumed water of three springs

• 7 pool

• The temperature of the hot-spring water in the pools is 22-42 C and contains sodium, sulphate, fluoride, calcium, magnesium and hydro-carbonate

• Excellent for locomotor diseases

Király Thermal Bath

• A Turkish bath built in 1565• The hall is octagonal, on every side there are deep

booths formed, above the hall there is a dome• It is still gets thermal water from the Lukács Bath• 4 pools

• The temperature of the hot-spring water is 26-40 C• The water contains sodium, sulphate, chloride,

fluoride, calcium, magnesium and hydro-carbonate

• Excellent for locomotor disease
