6 Things You Should Avoid While Renting A Car
Renting a car while traveling has become very common. It is due to car rental companies’ benefits such as
the independence of traveling and pocket-friendly rental prices. Since Dubai is a tourist hub, car rental in
Dubai has now become an industry. Every traveler who comes to visit Dubai has a dream to experience a
ride in his dream luxury or sports car. However, several companies in Dubai provide car rental services;
you should shop around before selecting one.
No doubt you can rent a car in Dubai very easily, but there are some essential things that you should avoid
while renting a car.
1. Prepaying For Fuel Charges
Almost all car rental companies have a set rule that when a person rents a car, he must return it with a full
fuel tank. However, some of the companies ask for prepayment for fuel. Prepaying for fuel may look
convenient, but it is not beneficial for you until you are sure that you will return the car with an empty fuel
tank. Otherwise, prepayment means you are paying for a full fuel tank even if you return the vehicle with
the half-full fuel tank. Therefore, to save money, you should avoid pre-paying for fuel.
2. Failing to Inspect The Car
It is crucial to inspect the car thoroughly before renting or signing a contract. Most rental cars are maintained
in the best conditions, but damages like dents or scratches may go unnoticed. Therefore, do not hurry and
inspect the car’s interior and exterior thoroughly. Otherwise, you may end up paying for the damages that
you did not cause. Hence, a thorough inspection can save you from extra charges when you rent a car.
3. Renting From AirPort
If you rent a car from the airport, you will have to pay extra surcharges as an airport fee. There are many
kiosks present for car rental services at the Dubai airport, but you will pay high rental charges if you rent a
car at the airport. Therefore, you should avoid renting a car from the airport. As many car rental companies
provide advance booking facilities so you can book your car in advance and they will get it delivered to the
airport at a decided date and time.
4. Not Returning Car On Time
Before hiring a car, you must know the time duration for which you are renting it. Because if you cannot
return the vehicle on time, you have to pay extra charges. However, some rental companies give a margin
of 29 minutes, but some companies charge for the whole day even if you are late just for an hour or two.
Thus to avoid these extra payments, you should plan your trip duration before renting a car.
5. Purchasing Insurance You Don’t Need
Many car rental companies have insurance policies for which you have to pay extra charges. This insurance
covers you in case of any damage or accident. But if you have your personal auto insurance policy, it covers
damage to rental cars. Moreover, if you pay through a credit card for the rental car, it will cover all the
secondary damages. So, you will not have to spend extra money on the car rentals’ insurance in this case.
6. Don’t Venture Outside UAE
When you rent a car in Dubai, it is not allowed to cross the UAE’s borders in this car. There are some laws
and regulations that restrict you to the boundaries of UAE. If you have to go outside UAE in a vehicle you
take on rent, you must take the legal permits and follow the standard procedures. Otherwise, you have to
pay penalties and hefty dues. Thus, to make your trip stress-free, follow the rules, and enjoy the ride in
your dream car.
If you want to make your car rental experience hassle-free and enjoyable, you should always keep these
points in your mind before hiring car rental services.
