What is the future after oil?Tar sands can be refined into petroleum. Only recently been exploited as oil prices have increased making it economically viable. Environmental impacts are colossal; huge amount of heating required to separate out the oil (usually generated from burning natural gas), 4 barrels of water to create one barrel of oil and huge cost to local environment and ecosystem.
