CHARITY: WATER

Mission: Charity: water is a non-profit organization

bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations.

Over 1 billion people in the world do not have access to clean drinking water.

It was founded in New York City by Scott Harrison, a former night-club impresario.

CITY HARVEST

Mission:

City Harvest exists to end hunger in communities throughout New York City. We do this through food rescue and distribution, education, and other practical, innovative solutions.

CITY HARVEST

A group of ordinary citizens became troubled by the large number of fellow New Yorkers who didn't have enough to eat. When they saw that local restaurants were discarding perfectly good food, these volunteers responded by enlisting friends and borrowing cars to transport the leftover food to where it was needed most. This idea led to the creation of City Harvest in 1982.

City Harvest has distributed more than 300 million pounds of food to a network of nearly 600 community food programs throughout NYC.

“We have more than 15,000 flower bulbs to plant in Washington Square Park before winter. We have set up two volunteer days so that you can help us get this project done before the cold weather settles in. The bulbs we plant now will be the first flowers to bloom in the spring and always create a joyful and colorful display. Join your neighbors and bring your friends to do your part for Washington Square Park.”
