WINDOWS: Hardware

1. Plug in headset

2. Control Panel

3. Sounds and Audio Devices

4. Voice

5. Using the drop down menus to select your hardware.

WINDOWS: Volume Levels

1. Right click on the speaker icon on the bottom right of the task bar.

2. In options, enable recording devices.

3. Adjust controls

4. Make sure that MUTE boxes are NOT marked!

SECOND LIFE: Enabling Voice

1. Edit

2. Preferences

3. Voice Chat

4. Device

5. Settings: your device should selected.

SECOND LIFE: Adjust Volume

1. Click ARROW at the bottom right of the screen.

2. Adjust settings as necessary, especially voice.

HEADSET TIPS

• Make sure that your headset is plugged in and turned on, and make the necessary adjustments.

• Position microphone close to your mouth; but not touching.

• In the Second Life voice settings, make sure the colored voice bar is approximately in the center of the green zone when you speak. It should not reach the red zone.

REMINDERS

Before loading Second Life it may be helpful to:

1. Perform a Disk Clean

2. Perform a Disk Defragment

3. Restart your computer

4. The class will be biodome and not local chat. Remember to click on biodome and then click to join the group.

5. Also, with all the excitement remember to click on the TALK tab when you want to be speak.
