1. Introduction

Vega CP12 antenna having very narrow main beam width parabolic design is intended for providing radio coverage to not very large and outlying places with a single sector. As compared with a traditional panel antenna Vega CP12 can provide very low level of internal interference to co-sited sectors.

Trial results of Vega CP12 including received level measurements redistribution after traditional panel antenna replacement with this antenna type are discussed below.

2. Vega CP12 common characteristicsVega CP12 antenna has special parabolic parabolic design as shown at picture

below.

Its main characteristics are the following:

3. Tested area and coverage predictionVega CP12 has replaced by itself the panel K741623 antenna of OD9118 BS (sector 3,

azimuth=180 deg., height=68m) situated at Kholmskoe village to improve coverage at outlying villages Chervonyi Yar (d~18km) and Furmanivka (d~12km) situated near lake shore. Predicted using Netact tool coverage is shown below.

4. Measurements resultsRx Level measurements were performed using TEMS Pocket tool with

external antenna (G=2.15 dBi) mounted on car rooftop. Note: to obtain coverage ‘produced’ by antenna concerned only (but not by co-sited and neighboring sectors!) BCCH ARFCN was locked on TEMS, though you can observe some low ‘red’ Rx Level areas that are served by other cells normally. Also measurements were conducted in ‘Idle’ mode to exclude power control influence.

5. Conclusions

Vega CP12 that has replaced by itself the panel K741623 antenna of OD9118 BS:

• Has confirmed its characteristics in part of high gain and narrow main beam width.

• Has increased RxLevel in aprox. 10-20 dB at outlying villages Chervonyi Yar (d~18km) and Furmanivka (d~12km).

• Has confirmed its possibility to provide ‘low cost coverage’ at outlying not very large areas with low subscriber density and without notable interference increase to co-sited and neighboring cells.
