Lesson 3

(Prepositions of time)

at, on, in

We use "at" to talk about the time and specific moments

of the day.

At 10 o'clock (a les 10 en punt)

At midnight (a mitjanit)

We also use "at" with some expressions of time:

At Christmas (Al Nadal)

At present (Actualment)

At the weekend (Al cap de setmana)

We use the preposition "on" with days of the week and

dates:

On Monday (El dilluns)

On my birthday (El día del meu aniversari)

On the 10th of April (El 10 d’abril)

We use the preposition "in" with months:

In January (Al gener)

In the previous month (al mes passat)

Page 4: Unit 3 - Study and Learn

We also use "in" with the seasons:

In summer (A l’estiu)

In winter (A l’hivern)

In autumn (A la tardor)

In spring (A la primavera)

And also with longer periods of time:

In this century (En aquest segle)

In the 60's (Als anys 60)

And with the expressions :

In the morning (Pel matí)

In the afternoon (Per la tarda)

In the evening (Pel vespre)

(exception) At night (Per la nit)

Finally, we can say in time / on time

But it means different:

in time (amb temps suficient)

on time (a l’hora exacte, en el moment just)
