Turn your PC to a Wi-Fi HotSpot
For those who do not have a wireless network at home, and even for those who do, Windows
provides a pretty simple method for turning your computer into a Wi-Fi hotspot from where you
can connect all your wireless devices: your iPod, iPhone or just about any Wi-Fi enabled device.
Things you need to keep in mind before starting out the process are:
You need a Laptop/Desktop running Windows XP or higher.
Your Laptop/Desktop should have a wireless card, and that card should not be currently
connected to any other wireless network.
If you want to share your wireless connection with others, you need to either have
another wireless card, or you need to be connected to a wired network.

The steps to change your settings to turn PC to WiFi HotSpot are:
1. From the Start Menu, go to ‘Control Panel’ and then to ‘Network and Sharing Center’.
You can also bring up the ‘Network and Sharing Center’ panel by simply right-clicking
the network icon present in the desktop system tray.

2. Click on the ‘Set Up a New Connection or Network’ option.
3. A help wizard will come up, giving you options to connect to dial-up, VPNs, or to create
an ad hoc network. An ad hoc network is the network you will need to set up your
wireless Internet connection.

4. You need to name your network in the next step, as well as choose a few security options.
Choosing a security key that is not very small is very important. Also, make sure that the
‘Save this Network’ checkbox is checked.
5. In the final step, you need to enable connection sharing. This will be done using your
network card. This is the step which will allow any device which is connected to the ad
hoc wireless network you just set up to use your regular Internet connection. To do this,
open ‘Network and Sharing Center’ and click on ‘Change Adapter Settings’. Find your
wireless connection, and enable it.
