PROTECTION AGAINST DISTRIBUTED DENIAL OF SERVICE AND APPLICATION LAYER ATTACKS Cyber attacks can be crippling to your business. The volume and scale of cyber attacks are growing rapidly each year as threats become more numerous and malicious tools become more sophisticated. Historically, the most common type of threat has been Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, which begin when cyber criminals exploit multiple vulnerable computers on the Internet and utilize these hosts (e.g., bots or zombies) to launch a synchronized attack on a target. More recently, cyber attacks consist of more stealthy and relatively low volume application-layer attack vectors. The incursions exploit vulnerabilities, the scale and functionality of specific applications that are more difficult to proactively detect. Cyber attacks against customers are the number one operational threat for businesses.*

Comcast Business provides a way to quickly respond to cyber attacks, keeping your business secure.

COMCAST BUSINESS THREAT MANAGEMENT SERVICE Comcast Business Ethernet Dedicated Internet (EDI) comes with threat protection functionality already enabled – Comcast Business Threat Management Service. When your business reports network issues, specifically any suspicious spikes in Internet traffic, we immediately begin analyzing that traffic for unusual patterns to determine if a cyber attack is underway.

Comcast Business will gather the appropriate network information (e.g., routable IP addresses in your network) to initiate threat mitigation. We will then redirect traffic to Comcast’s scrubbing centers distributed across the U.S. to filter the malicious traffic, matching specific attack vectors. Comcast Business oversees the mitigation and sends clean legitimate traffic back to your Internet connection, helping you maintain the availability of Internet resources for customer access and use.

Comcast Business also provides EDI customers the option to set-up the Threat Management service in advance, saving valuable minutes in the event of an actual cyber attack. Security Operations will work closely with your team to provision the service on the Comcast Security Portal, preconfigure countermeasure options, and run tests to ensure effective mitigation. During an attack, Comcast Business can initiate mitigation in minutes, and when you’re under attack, each minute is valuable.
