Many of us have already had our first taste of the

connected home of the future, whether it’s a smart

thermostat controlled from a smartphone, or a home

automation app that turns lights on and off remotely.

At Samsung, we put our vision for the future of

the connected home on full display last week

through our participation in Canderel

Residential’s YC Condominiums project. On

Thursday, we unveiled the Canderel Digital

Home, a True Marque Project Powered by

Samsung, the first fully functional, single

source digital home in Canada in the

penthouse suites of the YC Condominiums.

Residents of these luxury condos will be able to purchase a suite of state-of

the art home automation capabilities, all of which can be controlled by a

mobile Samsung device, such as our new Tab S tablet or Galaxy S5

smartphone

Some of the features of these suites include Samsung Digital Door locks,

two-way communication motion sensors and electronic window blinds, as well

as the ability to control a range of other regular home electronics – such as

Blu-ray players, televisions, and audio systems – all using the Smart

Gateway system and controlled by a wireless Samsung device.

While we believe in the future of the connected home, we recognize the

challenge in consumer adoption of many of these services. We believe that

through partnerships with builders and developers, a project such as

Canderel Residential’s YC Condominiums our consumers will begin to see

the value of having all of their devices ‘talk’ to each other for improved safety

and convenience.

Through our partnership with Canderel and True Mark, we are able to start

the consumer education process, which at times can be a challenge in a

traditional retail setting. By offering technologically minded consumers a no-

hassle way to connect their entire home out of the gate, they can start to

appreciate the true versatility of a Samsung wireless devices as the central

nervous system of the home.

Of course, our hope is that these suites are only the first of many, and that

every guest these new homeowners entertain will marvel at their connected

experience and wonder how they can bring Samsung services into their own

home.

Our partnership with Canderel and True Mark is merely the first step in our

long journey to ushering in a new era of smart home connectivity across

Canada.
