• Executive Order (EO) 893 has already been out for almost a year (June 2010)

• Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) has already been released

• TURNING ON IPv6 is the next logical step

• Its very expensive to turn on!

• Yes it is expensive, if you have not studied the options available to you, (especially the free ones) and if you take vendor solutions at face value

• It is very difficult to “migrate” to IPv6

• Yes that is true! It is difficult to migrate FULLY to IPv6. That is why IPv4 is here to stay, for a considerable amount of years... IPv6 will co-exist with IPv4 for some time...

Cost of the Setup

• IPv6 link - used existing WiMax equipment

• Router - PC based (not brand new) using open source software

Timetable

• One day to simulate IPv6 over the WiMax link

• One day to deploy the WiMax link

• One day to turn on IPv6 on the network and turn on the webserver

• Total of three days deployment!
