MSc/BSc education offer activitiesEducational Platforms TF session
Stylianos Georgoulas, TagItSmart project, University of Surrey, UK
IoT-EPI Common Workshop, 22-23 June, 2016Valencia, Spain
Co-funded by theEuropean
Commission
Presentation Outline
• What UNIS offers in MSc/BSc in the areas of IoT
• What is the role/use of the MSc/BSc education offer
• How to “run” this offer
• What we need from other TF members
Co-funded by theEuropean
Commission
Who we are
• University in the UK• We offer currently IoT related modules at MSc level• Mobile OSes• Semantics, data bases• Data processing, cloud platforms for IoT, etc.
• Also available to other departments• Some material is already available online• More may be made available
Co-funded by theEuropean
Commission
Role/use of MSc/BSc education offer
• To be used by MSc/BSc students as auxiliary material to their taught courses in the IoT area• To be used by institutions that want to roll-out or improve their
MSc/BSc education offers• Through the feedback mechanism to help the providers of the
content themselves to improve their courses
Co-funded by theEuropean
Commission
How to “run” this offer (1/2)
• At least twice per year issue a call to IoT-EPI partners for access to their taught MSc/BSc courses• Twice per year since taught modules are updated/provided on a semester
basis• Ideally links from where material can be downloaded• Brief description of thematic areas covered and prerequisites• Terms and conditions for access and re-use
• Categorise provided material based on the thematic areas it covers
Co-funded by theEuropean
Commission
How to “run” this offer (2/2)
• Create a list based on thematic areas covered and make it available in the OEP• For every content the terms & conditions and prerequisites will be mentioned• For the cases where content itself is provided (e.g. a link would work only if
registered with a HEI or connecting through a HEI intranet) we will need to see how/where this will be stored
• Feedback received will be conveyed to the material providers as it arrives to help them improve their courses• We will be resolving any issues with accessing the content• We will not however be creating taught modules themselves for others
Co-funded by theEuropean
Commission
What we need from other TF members
• We (UNIS) will be collecting relevant material from other TagItSmart partners• TF05 members who can act as content providers will be also
answering our “call for material” • TF05 members will also act as relays of the requests to their
consortia• Tree structure rather than flat structure

Commission
