• To be able to use the “past perfect”, e.g. “I had had an idea” or “I had driven 3km when
I stopped”. To use responses with “So” and “Neither”. To talk about coincidences, superstitions' and strange events.Repeat your ideas to make your meaning clear. Use “just” to make what you say stronger or softer.

“So” is used to agree with the person which is used with the verb “to do”.
I really like Abba.◦ So do I.
Neither works the sameI can’t stand Abba.
Neither can I.
“So” and “Neither”
Common verbs like “to be” and “to be able to” are repeated in the “So” and “Neither”.
For example: I can play the guitar.
◦ So can I.
I am not an accountant.Neither am I.
However,
It is just the same. Do ---- did. I played the guitar when I was 12. So did I. I didn’t like Abba. Neither did I. Am --- was. I was in Argentina in 2003. So was it. I wasn’t there Neither was I.
And in the past tense…
Can --- could I could see Lake Titicaca from my window. So could I.
I couldn’t walk under a ladder. Neither could I.
Use this structure to answer the following questions.
I don’t like Abba.
I can’t play the guitar
I speak English.
I live in Colombia.
So/neither + verb + subject.

What makes the meaning clearer?
Use a different adjective to make each sentence clear.
Do you dream in colour? Do you ever had strange dreams? What do you dream about?

You’ve already seen “just” used to soften instructions like, “Could you just give me that pen?”
It can also be used to strengthen instructions like, “Just do it!”.
However, as we have seen they can be used to emphasise a certain adjective:
How are your dreams? My dreams are weird, they’re just weird.”
