BIO-PROCESSING SECTION

Portable Bio-manure diagnostic kit Portable Bio-manure microbial diagnostic kit As per Bio-fertilizer Act (GoI), the testing of bio-manures for chemical and microbial parameters is mandatory. The laboratory methods to test these parameters are lengthy, cumbersome and require sophisticated laboratory facilities. Hence it becomes difficult for a village level producer to get his sample tested on the spot for preliminary essential tests. Keeping this in view the Rural Bio-processing Section has developed a bio-manure diagnostic kit. It consists of two parts viz Part I: NPK testing kit for the estimation of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium and Part II: Microbial diagnostic kit to test to microbial population in the biomanures.

Dissemination of technology1. A dissemination workshop on “Engine Application of Bio – Fuels” on February 3 – 7, 2007 was organized at MGIRI, after the standardization and in-house testing of the technology.

2. The technology was also successfully transferred to Central Institute of Agriculture Engineering (ICAR), Bhopal. The diesel engine of 3.7 KW capacity was converted to operate on 100% biogas. The converted engine is also used as a demonstration unit for visitors.

3. The similar installation were also done at following organizations under the supervision of MGIRI. These installations will be used for power generation and for demonstration purpose.

Technology dissemination (IMPROVED POTTER KILN )

1. After standardization and in-house testing of the technology, it was disseminated by conducting workshops at MGIRI “ Evaluation of an pottery kiln and potters wheel.” on December 14 – 20, 2006.

2. the technology dissemination workshop conducted on “ An improved potters kiln and value addition in Pottery “ were also conducted at Kanyakumari

3. The improved kiln were also constructed at

Kondagaon – Dist Bastar (Chattisgarh) and Bharavati - Dist Chandrapur (Maharastra) with local pottery clusters.

Benefits:

Fuel saving upto 40-50 % Less breakage as comparative traditional kiln Uniform coloration on pottery Reduced operational cost.

A. Development of Animal Driven Prime Mover (ADPM) for Rural Industries Application

Page 33: State director conf-sept-2007 new

Dissemination of Technology (ADPM)1. A consultation workshop on “Rural Entrepreneurship possibilities using Bio- Fuels and Animal Power” was organized on 23-25 March 2007 at MGIRI

after in-house testing of the technology.

2. Animal driven prime mover system was installed by MGIRI at Chaturvedi farm house Kanpur and Jaju Farm house, Akola for water lifting purpose. It is operational by the use of a pair of bullock.

3. An additional setup of Animal driven prime mover is installed at Agril. University Udaipur for carrying out different experiments on agro-processing devices.

4. The modifications were also suggested to Kanpur – Goshala for running of there mechanical devices.

Benefits: Increased use of animal power in agro-processing. An alternative to decentralized system of rural electrification User-friendly, multifunctional system Saving of fossil fuels
