¡  DoD/VA Interagency Program Office (IPO) acts as the single point of accountability for DoD and VA in the rapid development and implementation of electronic health record systems

¡  It was established by the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for FY2008 mandate

¡  Scope includes personnel and benefits electronic data sharing between DoD and VA

Who is the IPO?


¡  The Virtual Lifetime Electronic Record (VLER) project is to provide seamless integration between DoD, VA, and Health Providers to make it a seamless transition when personnel transfer from active duty to veteran status

¡  Project artifacts must have one visible location where all parties can collaborate, create, and access easily

¡  Reporting must be multilevel with “Dashboard” type of data visualizations

¡  Decisions and reporting must be transparent and agreeable to all government and industry participants

¡  The hosting platform is MOSS 2007 Standard and restricted to only out of the box functionality with no access to Central Admin level

¡  Web-based and familiar to many of the participants

¡  Integration with typical artifact tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and MS Project

¡  Must be accessible through SSL VPN
