Presenter background:

Steve is an Applications Engineer in the Solid Edge Field Support group. He has over 25 years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering and Mechanical CAD. He has held roles as an Application Engineer and Educator at Siemens PLM Software, PTC, Saratech Inc and Moderntech SI. Before moving into the CAD Industry, Steve applied his CAD knowledge in industries including hydraulic gear pumps, high speed packaging equipment, and textile equipment. He holds a two year drafting certification from the Williamston Career and Technology Center.

Today we’ll learn new capabilities including: automatic view folding, alternate position views, live detail views, automatic sheet creation for large tables, and new Dimension and annotation tools. These new capabilities will help you get designs to production faster.

Let’s start out using the View Wizard command.

Browse to 604_Solid Edge-Draft/Draft-Alternate Position

Select ChuteAssembly.asm

Open

Select right view

Finish and place view

Select Set Primary and Alternate Position

Change Primary to 15 Degrees

Add Alternate 90 and 30 Degrees

Click Ok and Update Views

Switch to the Tables tab

Parts List command

Pick drawing view

From the properties pulldown select New Table.

Click anywhere on the sheet.

Take a look at the two new tabs

Switch back to the Tables tab

Crtl+A then hit delete

Select No

Pick view

Go into properties

On the General tab make these selections.

Select each Column and change Column width

In the Saved settings field enter My Table

Click Save

Click anywhere in the drawing

Notice the new sheets

Right mouse click the Parts List and select Properties

Switch to the List Control tab

Change from Top-Level to Atomic list

Now notice you have 14 sheets

Right mouse click the Parts List and select Properties

Switch to the List Control tab

Change from Atomic list to Top-Level

Table Grouping

Table Grouping is grouping like items in any Solid Edge table.

Switch to the Groups tab

Go into the Parts List command and select the view.

Parts Lists Properties

Select the Columns tab

Display the following columns for your parts list

Enter the following information

Insert 3 Rows
